A Katsina businessman, Anas Ahmadu, his seven-month pregnant wife, Halimatu, and their two-year-old daughter remain in the hands of their abductors eight days after their abduction to an unknown destination.
On August 26, 2025, kidnappers stormed the residence of the abductees at Filin Canada Quarters in Katsina metropolis and abducted the victims.
DSP Abubakar Sadiq, spokesman of the Katsina Police Command, confirmed on Tuesday that the Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, who visited the scene, deployed additional resources in order to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators.
The kidnappers, according to a source, had earlier demanded N600 million ransom but later reduced it to N100 million for the victims to be released.
According to him, “We are praying to Allah (SWT) to soften the hearts of the abductors to release them.”
He also appealed to the state government to intervene and secure the release of the abductees.
The attackers, it is reported, gained entry into the residence through the fence and killed a vigilante member, Abdullahi Muhammad, who had responded to a distress call from the family.
