Katsina govt approves monthly stipends for Christian clerics, commences recruitment of CRS teachers

The Katsina State Government has approved monthly stipends for Christian clerics as part of efforts to promote religious inclusion and support faith leaders.

The decision was announced by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Katsina State Chapter, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Dr. Musa Daniel Danladi, on behalf of Chairman Very Rev. Fr. Richard Shuaibu Liti.

Governor Dikko Umar Radda also approved the recruitment of Christian Religious Studies (CRS) teachers into public schools. CAN described the move as a major step towards inclusivity and moral development, noting that the recruitment of CRS teachers has been a long-standing request from the Christian community.

Dr. Musa said the stipends would encourage pastors to continue praying for peace and progress in the state, while the recruitment of teachers would help improve Christian students’ academic results and moral upbringing.

He called on qualified Christians to apply online for the teaching positions and contribute to the moral and academic growth of young people.

CAN expressed gratitude to the governor and urged that the initiative be maintained beyond the current administration to strengthen unity among religious groups.
