The Lagos State Government has announced that the second phase of maintenance works on the Ogudu-Ifako Bridge in Kosofe Local Government Area will begin on Tuesday, August 19, and run until Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, said the rehabilitation will focus on the bridge’s expansion joints on the lane inbound Lagos Island.
According to him, the repairs will be carried out in stages to limit traffic disruptions, with diversion plans already mapped out to ensure smoother movement for motorists.
For road users coming from the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway/Toll Gate axis and heading towards Oshodi or Victoria Island, traffic will be diverted to one lane of the three-lane road about 50 metres before the construction zone, with full access restored shortly after.
Motorists bound for Oshodi can also use the Ojota Slip Road to connect Ikorodu Road inward Anthony by Taxi Park, while those heading towards Victoria Island may access Ikorodu Road inward Anthony via Town Planning Way, linking Gbagada and the Third Mainland Bridge.
Alternative options include Ikorodu Road inward Funsho Williams Avenue to link Eko Bridge, or commuting through Maryland to Funsho Williams Avenue and onward to Eko Bridge for access to Outer Marina.
Drivers heading towards Ikeja are advised to connect through Anthony by Taxi Park en route Oshodi.
Osiyemi added that traffic officers would be strategically deployed along the corridor to manage congestion and appealed to road users to cooperate fully with traffic officials during the period of repairs.
