Man allegedly butchers father, steals money to organise birthday party for girlfriend in Delta

The Police in Enerhen Division, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, have arrested a young man simply identified as Ifeanyi, who allegedly butchered his father, identified as Sunny, and stole his money to organize a birthday party for his girlfriend.

The suspect, who is cooling off his heels at the Police cell, confessed that it was his cult group that asked him to kill his father.

The suspect was arrested in a hotel on Sunday after he killed his father on Thursday night and fled OilField Road, their area of residence.

It was learnt that the suspect targeted his father, who was asleep at night, butchered him and inflicted him with bodily injuries with his hands cut off, stole the money (proceeds of a land the father sold), and disappeared from the area.

In pains, the deceased screamed for help, and neighbours came to see him in the pool of his own blood. He was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

After the death of the deceased, neighbours launched a search for the suspect until he was caught in a hotel with two girls he lodged with, after organizing a birthday party for another, whom he said is his girlfriend.

The police have deposited the remains of the deceased in the morgue.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, is yet to pick phone calls as well as reply to a text message sent to him for confirmation of the report.
