Where He Started

In 2015, Chukwuma was working as a houseboy under the Igbo apprenticeship system in Delta State. Part of his tasks was buying and having processed old layer hens at Abraka Market in Asaba.

During these market visits, he bought plastic bags from a man named Boniface, who sold polythene at a kiosk. The two struck up a friendship while Chukwuma waited for his hens to be processed each weekend. Over time, they discussed business ideas.

The Idea & Hustle

They decided to start a wheelbarrow business focused on renting barrows to pushers in markets. Chukwuma and Boniface started with six wheelbarrows. Chukwuma owned five, Boniface one.

They registered with the Anambra State Barrow Owners & Pushers Association, which is a regulated union.
