NFF must pay up rest of contract if they sack me – Super Eagles coach, Chelle warns

The head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has said the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, must be ready to pay up the remainder of his contract, if they decide to fire him.

Chelle was reacting to rumours he could be sacked, following a poor outing with the home-based team at the 2024 CHAN.

Nigeria lost their opening two fixtures to Senegal and Sudan, which effectively knocked them out of the competition.

It left a lot of fans and pundits questioning if Chelle is the man to lead the three-time African champions to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the qualifiers coming up in just under two weeks.

“I have heard a lot of stories about them wanting to sack me and replace me with someone else. I have heard about that,” Chelle told journalist Osasu Obayiuwana.

“I know, quite well, that I can be fired after one match. This is life in football, but if they decide to do that, they must be prepared to pay up the remainder of my contract.”
