North has greatly benefited from Tinubu, he deserves our support – Sen Barau

The Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves the support of northern Nigerians for a second term in the 2027 presidential election because of his contributions to the region’s development.

Speaking on Monday during a ceremony in Kano, Barau praised Tinubu for his commitment to education and human capital development.

He said the President had approved the creation of several new universities and colleges in northern Nigeria, including the new university where the event took place.

“We are here today to celebrate the establishment of this new university and to give financial support to our students,” Barau said.

“We must also thank President Tinubu, who approved the creation of this university and signed all the necessary laws to make it a reality.”

The senator explained that the institution was previously a Federal College of Education, converted to a university during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration but later downgraded by the previous government.

“When I became Deputy Senate President, I took the proposal for the restoration of the university to President Tinubu. Before I could even finish explaining, he immediately gave his approval,” Barau recalled.

He added that Tinubu also approved naming the institution after the late Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule, Nigeria’s former representative at the United Nations and a respected statesman.

Barau said the North has greatly benefited from Tinubu’s leadership and therefore should repay his good deeds by supporting him for re-election in 2027.

“One good turn deserves another,” he said.
