NSCDC intercepts truck with telecom mast, arrests 7 illegal miners in Niger

The Niger State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested two suspects, Mustapha Aliyu and Abubakar Safyanu, with a truck loaded with telecommunication masts worth millions of naira along the Tafa-Suleja road.

The State Commandant, Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, stated this while parading the suspects at the state headquarters of the command in Minna. He said the command’s anti-vandal team, acting on intelligence information, apprehended the suspects along the Tafa-Suleja axis.

In a separate operation, the NSCDC commandant disclosed that seven male suspects were arrested for their involvement in illegal mining activities at Kataeregi along Bida road.

Aniviye stated that the suspects were found with a Sharon vehicle carrying mining products.

One of the suspects, Mahmoud Idris, admitted to engaging in illegal mining without a license, hiring laborers, and selling Zico mineral to dealers.

The State Commandant, Suberu Siyaka Aniviye, vowed to make Niger State uncomfortable for vandals, illegal miners, and other criminals, while assuring that the command will work closely with other security agencies to ensure a crime-free society.

He reassured the command’s commitment to protecting the state’s assets and infrastructure and applauded the Commandant-General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, and Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, for their unflinching support to the command.

Aniviye further assured the public that the command will continue to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure a crime-free society and safeguard the state’s assets and infrastructure.
