Ondo prophet issues ultimatum to Aiyedatiwa over ‘death trap’ road

A popular clergy in Ondo State, Prophet Samson Oluwamodede, has carpeted Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa over the deplorable state of the busy Oke-Aro/Idanre Road in Akure, the state capital.

Oluwamodede, who is the General Overseer of Prayer Centre of God Worldwide, vowed to fix the road if Aiyedatiwa failed to intervene, stressing that lives have been lost on the axis on a daily basis.

According to the prophet, in a 3:06-minute viral video circulating on social media platforms across the state, commuters and residents at Owe-Akala, Abiodun, and Idanre Garage axis of the route have been experiencing hectic times accessing their homes, with most portions of the road now a death trap.

While disclosing that he wants the governor to succeed, the prophet maintained that some roads in the state, particularly within Akure metropolis, are also facing similar challenges.

“Mr Governor, I called your attention to this road before, and you promised to act. But now, the situation has worsened.

Heavy trucks fall, people die daily. If nothing is done before Sunday, I will hire a grader and do surface dressing myself, so you won’t be embarrassed.”

Reacting, the Senior Special Assistant to Aiyedatiwa on Strategic Communication, Allen Sowore, stated that the Oke-Aro/Idanre dual carriageway was flagged off barely six months ago and was already recording remarkable progress.

Sowore stated: “It is disheartening to see torrents of criticism over a project that is very much alive. Rome was not built in a day. The current discomfort is temporary; the benefits will last for decades.”
