One killed, three injured in Osun truck accident

Osun State Police Command has confirmed the death of one person and injuries to three others in a road crash in Ikirun on Tuesday.

The Police identified the deceased as Usman Mohammed, who was reportedly standing by the roadside when the incident occurred.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed that the accident occured near Oja Oba, a busy market along the Ikirun–Iree–Ila Road.

Ojelabi said, “a truck loaded with granite lost control after its brakes failed, hitting a motorcyclist and subsequently veering into a nearby shop.

“The accident occurred today (Tuesday). A truck and a motorcycle were involved. The truck was carrying granite. The driver lost control due to brake failure.”

He added, “The truck hit a motorcyclist and veered off to a nearby shop. Four people were involved in total.”

The police spokesman confirmed that Usman Mohammed died at the scene, while the three injured victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

Ojelabi urged road users to exercise caution, especially in busy market areas, to avoid accidents and loss of life.

He assured that the police command would continue to work towards ensuring safety and security for residents in Osun State.
