The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has described the reported sudden death of a chieftain of the party in the Ife-North local government council area of the state, Olubisi Odewumi, as shocking and tragic.
According to the state chairman of the party, Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, on Thursday, the death of Odewumi was too sudden to be believed
Lawal described Odewumi’s death as a “collosal loss to the party as it would be pretty difficult to have his replacement in his constituency which he was fond of guiding jealously to the advantage of the APC”.
The state APC chairman stated that “to describe the deceased as a core loyal chieftain of the party and a team player during his life time come rain or shine is not an overstatement as it is on record that he was always available to contribute his quota to the development of the party.”
He remarked that though Odewumi might have died at the prime of his life, his political life history has reflected that he ran a good race in life with the accomplishment of some notable aspirations.
Lawal stated that he took solace in the fact that the world is like a market place where each patron disembarks at the end of his journey of life.
He said, “The reported death of Honourable Olubisi Odewumi in the early hours of today was devastating to all the members of the APC family who were finding it difficult to believe.
“When one remembers the unconditional contributions and dedication of the deceased to our party, one would be moved to tears that such an asset could be lost when his wealth of experience are mostly needed in the interest of our party.
“Though the untimely death of Honourable Bisi Odewumi pained us, his political family, to the marrow, it is pretty impossible for human beings to query God for any of His deeds.
“My prayer, on behalf of all our party members in Ife-North Local Government Council Area of the state in particular and across the state in general is to grant the widow of the deceased, his children and his political family, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of the Ashipa-born political enigma.”
DAILY POST gathered that Odewumi, a former Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the Rauf Aregbesola administration died on Thursday morning at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
