Police operatives in Benue State have confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to the murder of a repentant bandit along the Sankera–Zaki-Biam highway in Ukum Local Government Area.
The victim, identified as Kyoga Joka, was reportedly ambushed and fatally shot by two gunmen who stormed the area on a motorcycle.
Witnesses alleged that the attackers had ties to Chen, a feared bandit kingpin operating in the axis.
The incident, which occurred on September 29, led to the evacuation of Joka’s remains, later deposited at the General Hospital mortuary in Zaki-Biam.
Police sources disclosed that one Teryila Kpogh, said to be a member of Chen’s criminal network, has been arrested in connection with the killing.
Security agencies are intensifying operations to track down the fleeing accomplices.
The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has since taken over the probe, with officials assuring that updates on the investigation will be made available in due course.
