
Abia State Police Command says it has sustained it’s crime fighting efforts by arresting some suspected armed robbers and cultists and also recovered some exhibits from them.
The development was made known by DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
She listed the names of the arrested suspects as Udaka Justin, a native of Akata village, Oru East LGA, Imo State,
, Chukwuebuka Michael Nnebedun, a native of Arondizuagu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State and Prince David, also from Arodizuogu, Ideato North LGA, Imo State.
She listed the recovered exhibits as one short locally made pistol, three live cartridges, one double-edged machete, one battle axe and One black face mask.
Other recovered exhibits include one sachet of substances suspected to be Indian Hemp and one auto-rickshaw keke Napep, which were recovered during a search.
The Abia Police Command said that on 23/08/2025 at about 9:30pm, operatives of the Quick Intervention Unit (QIU) of Abia State Police Command, while conducting stop-and-search operations at Umuagu by School Signboard, flagged down an autorickshaw (Keke Napep) with registration number MBL801VJ, blue in colour, carrying five occupants including the rider.
The statement said that the rider pretended that the tricycle had developed a fault when stopped, giving room for two of the occupants to jump out and escape, but the above named three of the suspects were apprehended.
Abia Police Command said the arrested suspects and recovered exhibits have been taken into custody, while investigation is ongoing.
