The Borno State Police Command has recovered an unexploded ordnance, UXO, on a farmland in Dikwa Local Government Area of the state.
The discovery was reported by a farmer, Babagana Kachalla, who found the suspicious object while working on his farm.
Police spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, said the Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, deployed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal, EOD, team to the site.
The device, identified as a cluster bomb unit measuring about 2.2 metres in length and 30 centimetres in width, was found partially buried.
The EOD operatives carried out demolition and safely extracted the munitions without incident.
Daso added that residents of the area were sensitised on safety measures to take when they come across such dangerous objects.
