Putin, Erdogan discuss developments in Middle East, Ukraine

President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday held talks on several pressing bilateral matters, the Kremlin press office informed.

During a phone call, the two leaders exchanged views on the latest developments in Ukraine and those in the Middle East, where the Gaza situation remains dire.

The conversation followed Monday’s conversation between President Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza.

In its latest update, the World Health Organization detailed the humanitarian crisis in the occupied Palestinian territory, calling for a ceasefire to save lives and allow critical aid to reach those in need.

Also on Tuesday, President Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed interest in developing “the special and privileged strategic partnership” between India and Russia.

The heads of state also discussed preparations for Putin’s upcoming visit to India in December. Both Erdogan and Modi offered best wishes to the Russian leader, who clocked 73.

Meanwhile, Putin is set to embark on a state visit to Tajikistan on Wednesday for talks with President Emomali Rahmon on the development of the Russia-Tajikistan alliance.

Putin will attend the second Russia-Central Asia summit in Dushanbe on Thursday, with the participation of the counterparts from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

The summit aims to further strengthen Russia’s cooperation with the nations in various sectors, including trade and economy, finance, industry, logistics, and energy.

The leaders will again meet on Friday for a meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States, a regional organization in Eurasia formed after the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991.
