Rema Tops, Davido Dominates as Spotify Drops 2025’s Nigerian Global Impact List

Spotify has unveiled its 2025 Global Impact List, highlighting the top 30 Nigerian songs making waves beyond the country’s borders in the first half of the year and the results are a resounding endorsement of Afrobeats’ global dominance.

Leading the charge is Rema, whose chart-topping single “Baby (Is It a Crime)” secured the No. 1 spot. However, when it comes to overall chart presence, Davido stole the spotlight with an impressive nine entries, all from his critically acclaimed album 5ive.

Tracks like “With You” (featuring Omah Lay), “Be There Still”, “10 Kilo”, and “Holy Water” positioned Davido as the most featured artist on the list, showcasing his unparalleled consistency and reach in 2025.

At No. 2 is Shallipopi with his infectious hit “Laho”, followed closely by Davido and Omah Lay’s soulful duet “With You” at No. 3. Rising talent Chella proved her staying power with “My Darling” at No. 4, while Burna Boy’s high-profile collaboration with Travis Scott, “TaTaTa”, rounded out the top five.

Other notable entries in the top 10 include:

  • “ZAaZAA” – Frenna & Shallipopi
  • “WE PRAY (Twice Version)” – Coldplay, TWICE, Burna Boy, Elyanna, TINI & Little Simz
  • “Update” and “Laho II” – Burna Boy & Shallipopi
  • “Be There Still” – Davido

The full list celebrates both Afrobeats veterans and emerging stars. Ayra Starr, Wizkid, ODUMODUBLVCK, Lawrence Oyor, Black Sherif, Asake, Adekunle Gold, Teni, and Minz also earned spots, along with cross-continental collaborations featuring Chris Brown, Victoria Monét, Dadju, and Shenseea.

One of the biggest surprises on the list was the inclusion of Beéle, who, alongside Thisizlondon, released the Spanish-Nigerian crossover “Si mañana me muero”, demonstrating how Afrobeats continues to break boundaries across cultures and languages.

While Rema holds the chart-topping single, much of the fan debate has centered on the ongoing rivalry between Davido and Burna Boy. Davido’s 9 entries versus Burna’s 5 has reignited conversations about who truly owns the crown in 2025’s global Afrobeats scene.
