Suspension Background: Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, was suspended in March 2025 by the Senate over alleged misconduct. The conflict reportedly arose after a dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements during a plenary session.
Current Status: Although Akpoti-Uduaghan approached the Court of Appeal after the Federal High Court ruled in favour of the Senate, her request to resume duties was declined.
Official Communication: In a letter dated September 4, 2025, Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, confirmed that:
Her suspension remains subjudice pending the Court of Appeal verdict.
No administrative action can be taken to allow her resumption until the judicial process concludes.
She will be formally notified once the Senate reviews the matter in light of the court’s final ruling.
Implication: The senator must await the Court of Appeal decision before any reconsideration of her suspension can occur.
