Serie A: Okoye set for Udinese return after two-month suspension

Nigeria goalkeeper Maduka Okoye will be eligible to play for Udinese again on October 20, DAILY POST reports.

Okoye was handed a two-month suspension in July for his alleged involvement in illegal betting.

The 26-year-old received a yellow card in the 64th minute of Udinese’s 2-1 win over Lazio for time wasting.

It was alleged that the shot stopper deliberately received the card.

Though there were initial fears that he could be charged with sporting fraud and banned for four years, the disciplinary panel opted for a lesser conviction on the grounds of illegal betting.

Okoye is now expected to return to action when Udinese take on Cremonese in a Serie A clash on October 20.

He has established himself as the Zebras first choice goalkeeper since his arrival at the club in 2023.
