Sheikh Gumi urges Hamas to release Israeli civilian hostages

Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, has called on Hamas to immediately release all Israeli civilian hostages without setting any conditions.

In a statement on his verified Facebook page on Saturday, Gumi described the abduction of hostages as a “wrong calculation,” stressing that it should not have happened in the first place.

He advised Hamas to reconsider its approach and focus on reclaiming Palestinian land through what he called a “clean use of force,” which he said is their legitimate right to defend themselves.

Gumi’s remarks came after reports that Hamas had agreed to free some Israeli hostages following a ceasefire plan brokered by U.S. President, Donald Trump, who also appealed to Israel to halt airstrikes on Gaza.

“Hamas should release all civilian hostages without conditions. Abducting them was a mistake,” Gumi wrote.

“They should re-strategize and fight for their land in a clean way. Victory will come with Allah’s help, and it is near.”
