The authorities of the University of Benin, UNIBEN, have imposed penalties ranging from withdrawal of certificate, rustication and expulsion on any final year students who violated its sign-out celebration ban.
DAILY POST reports that the Registrar of the institution, Mr Ademola Bobola disclosed this in a circular titled,”Resolutions of the University to prohibit students’ sign-out celebration.
Bobola said the decisions taken at the university’s management meeting held on Monday, October 6, 2025, was to reiterate the earlier position of the institution Senate on sign-out celebration.
The circular read in part, “no sign-out celebration of any kind including signing on T-Shirts and playing music will be tolerated.
“Indiscriminate parading around the campuses in any brand of vehicle will not be permitted.Unauthorized vehicles will not be allowed into the campuses all through the last week of the second semester examination;
“Large gathering of students around the Faculty/School/Institute premises after examinations is equally prohibited.
“Members of the University Community are invited to kindly note the above position for strict compliance as any violation will attract severe disciplinary sanctions including withdrawal of certificate, rustication and expulsion of violators”, he said.
