Team Brazil made history on Sunday, securing its maiden series triumph at the E1 Lagos Grand Prix with a dominant performance at the groundbreaking African edition of the championship.
Skippered by Timmy Hansen and Leva Millere-Hagin, the Brazilian duo impressed from start to finish, sweeping through the group stages and race-offs before sealing victory in a thrilling final showdown.
Their outstanding display earned the team 38 points, boosting their overall championship tally to 89 points. Team Blue Rising claimed the runner-up spot, while Team Drogba finished third. In a surprising twist, leading contenders Team Rafa and Team Brady failed to make the podium.
The E1 Lagos GP, held on October 5 and 6 in Victoria Island, Lagos, marked the first time the all-electric powerboat championship was staged on African waters. The event blended high-performance racing with technological innovation and environmental consciousness.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State described the championship as a landmark moment for the state, highlighting its potential to drive innovation, sustainability, and global recognition.
“Hosting the E1 Grand Prix is not just about sport. It is about innovation, environmental responsibility, and putting Lagos on the global map for future-focused development,” the governor said after the final race.
