TESCOM boss meets education stakeholders, calls for more collaboration

The Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, Biodun Sanyaolu, has urged teaching and non-teaching unions and associations in the state to foster mutual understanding and cooperation with the commission in the collective effort to strengthen the education sector.

Sanyaolu made the appeal in Abeokuta during a meeting with Principals-General and leaders of the All Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU.

Describing the groups as critical stakeholders, he emphasised that their support and collaboration are essential for the successful implementation of policies that would advance teaching and learning in secondary schools across the state.

The TESCOM chairman disclosed that the commission had introduced initiatives designed to enhance efficiency, fairness, and transparency in its operations, with the aim of boosting staff morale and ensuring quality service delivery.

On the deployment of newly inducted principals and vice principals, Sanyaolu assured that postings would strictly reflect existing vacancies, seniority, and merit, based on the outcome of the last screening exercise.

He explained that efforts are ongoing to ensure the equitable distribution of teachers across schools, with proper attention to teacher-student ratios, subject requirements, and the creation of a conducive teaching and learning environment.

Responding on behalf of their unions, President of ANCOPSS, Mr. Adeniyi Adekoya; Chairman of ASUSS, Comrade Felix Agbesanwa; his counterpart in NASU, Comrade Olumide Oduneye; and Deputy State Chairman of NUT, Comrade Olufemi Okulalu, commended TESCOM for prioritising the welfare of teaching and non-teaching staff, assuring their continued collaboration with the commission in the interest of their members.
