The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Monday described the administration of President Bola Tinubu as a listening government that cares for the people of the capital city.
Wike said Tinubu’s administration makes promises to the FCT people and fulfills them.
He spoke during the flagging off ceremony of the construction of access road bypassing airport Second runway from Bill Clinton Drive to Tunga Madaki settlement which include a four span bridge.
The road which links 10 communities and stretches to Zuba is expected to be completed within 12 months.
Speaking, Wike said: “This road is not less than 70 kilometers and look at the four-span bridge. The managing director of CCC has promised me that this road will be inaugurated and commissioned during the third year anniversary of Mr. President.
“My dear good people of Tunda Madaki, this is a government for the first time in your life, for the first time a government has come to you or you have come to a government, and the government said look, what you are looking for, the only request you have made, which is a reasonable request, we must have to attend to you, and today we are attending to you.
“What does this show? It shows you the government of Mr President, Bola Tinubu, is a listening government, is a government that cares for the people, is a government that made promises and fulfilled the promises made. You can imagine what will happen by next year June when this road will be completed. You can imagine what development will look like here.
“I therefore on behalf of Mr President to congratulate you for what you have achieved for your people. Nine communities that this road is linked to, nine communities that have been abandoned for several years, nine communities, nobody knew that they were in existence.
“But by the grace of God, through Mr. President, all of us are aware that we want we call Tunga Madaki settlement that make up not less than nine communities.”
The minister also urged FCT electorates to vote for the current Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu during the forthcoming area council elections.
Wike informed residents that Maikalangu has been on his neck to ensure that his administration delivers the promises of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda mandate to the people of the FCT.
“And let me also say, my dear people, one good turn deserves another. Now that INEC has said area councils can go and campaign officially, you all know where we are heading to. Let me say remember, you have had area council chairmen before. Did anybody remember Tungda Madaki settlement?
“Now that you have a son Maikalangu, he always keeps reminding me day and night, Mr. Minister, remember, the people of Tunda Madaki have made this request during the compensation of the land acquired for the second runway.
“Please, continue to press on Mr. President so that we can attend to them so we can make sure the request made is being fulfilled. So my dear people of Tunda Madaki, I have handed over Maikalagu to you. So that, when the election will be heard in February, by June, Mr. President will be here to inaugurate this road and then we will all dance and dance and then Mr. Maikalangu will come and do the needful after the next election February 2026.
“Remember the man who remembered you during the rainy season. Do you understand? All those who have nothing to offer you, tell them where they were when nobody remembered you to connect you to even the airport that you own the land. Today, you can dance by the grace of God, leave God to be the citizen and the airport,” he said.
