Manchester City are set to hijack Manchester United’s move to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton.
According to ESPN, the Seagulls have slapped a £104m price tag on Baleba.
Earlier this week, United “made contact” via intermediaries, in a bid to explore the conditions of a move for the midfielder.
United have made Baleba their main targets, as they remain keen to recruit a new No.6.
It was initially thought the 21-year-old would cost £90m plus £10m in add-ons, but Brighton are demanding €120m (£104m).
City have now joined the race to sign Baleba, with Pep Guardiola believed to be long-term admirer of the Cameroonian.
However, Brighton want to want to keep Baleba at the Amex for at least another year.
